[U: Not Today. Ugh.] In Advance Of A Wed. Hearing In Nashville, Govt. Ordered To Answer Abrego Garcia's Release Arguments By 4 PM Today...

Well, I am confirmed: still toying with the idea of hopping one of the nearly-hourly Southwest flights from the Chi to Music City, in time for the release/detention hearing tomorrow afternoon, to live blog it -- from inside the Thompson federal building, thus:

Wed 6/25 | Southwest Air
# 3382 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ # 1178
MDW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> BNA
11:10 AM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7:25 PM
BNA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> MDW
12:40 PM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9:05 PM

We shall see. And (in any event) we will post that Noem / Rubio / Miller nonsense here, when it arrives -- likely only as a link -- no quoting the lunacy here. Updated: here on the night before this hearing, the AUSA has weighed in. It appears solely for a complete record.

. . .ORDER as to Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia:

The Government shall reply to Defendant Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia's Response in Opposition to the Motion for Appeal and Revocation Release Order (Doc. No. [49]) by 4:00 p.m., June 24, 2025.

Signed by District Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw, Jr. on 6/23/2025. . . .

Onward. . . grinning. With a lil' luck, we will see a preeminent USDC Judge (in a ruby red state) directly tell Tangerine that he is. . . no king. [Mr. Obama appointed this African American USDC Judge -- in April of 2016. He was the first Black partner ever at his Nashville firm, and the first ever Black member of the Belle Meade Country Club -- breaking the color barrier there, in 2012.] He may well set Mr. Abrego Garcia free -- on $1 bail. Onward.
