Q.: Did Alabama "Botch" The Execution Of Joe Nathan James. Jr. -- Causing Three Hours Of... Torture?

The state laws in Alabama impose a broad, thick blanket of State secrecy -- on executions. That alone should give moral people pause, about the true nature of what happens in a death chamber, there.

The triangulation of what all is known however, strongly suggests that in searching for a usable vein, to inject the lethal concoctions, up to three hours may have passed. There were long cut lines, on both arms, at the autopsy.

And there were other indications that he was chemically-immobilized -- but felt it all. That is, they paralyzed him, and then took their time about killing him. At a minimum, ABC's closing quote rings. . . in my ears -- as does Justice Blackmun's, at right. Again. Sigh.

. . .“This execution is Exhibit A as to why execution secrecy laws are intolerable," Dunham wrote in an email to the AP. “The public is entitled to know what went on here — and what goes on in all Alabama executions — from the instant the execution team begins the process of physically preparing the prisoner for the lethal injection until the moment the prisoner dies. . . .”

This is beneath us, as a supposedly civilized nation. Way. . . beneath us.
