Biggest Super Bowl Ad Fail? Coinbase Crypto Exchange. No Doubt.

So Coinbase Spent $14 Million For A Busted QR Code Super Bowl Ad?

Well. . . that was pointless.

I’m certain Mr. Armstrong will spin it as a wild success — “so popular that the traffic swamped our server!” or some such.

Me? I think the SB Nation sporting pages got it right: this was some high stupidity. [The entire trading platform was down for almost an hour, according to is-it-down-now.com.]

Here it is, from SB Nation:

. . .I’m in awe of whatever ad agency sold this idea to Coinbase. That had to be a Don Draper-ass pitch to convince a company to spend $14 million on a bouncing, color-changing QR code with some forgettable music bouncing around the screen for a solid minute.

It’s an incredible waste of money, and it’s almost such a bold waste that I almost respect it. Almost. . . .

Best Ad? Scar Jo / Colin Jost, for Amazon's Alexa. No doubt.

Out, grinning now, into the clear night air. . . .
