Power-Alley People: Merck Loses Seasoned Executive (And Former Chief Commercial Officer) To Public Company, IFF, With A DuPont Pharma Legacy...

A '34 Act reporting company known best as International Flavors and Fragrances (or IFF for short) -- which is affiliated with the DuPont family of companies (via an acquisition) -- has today picked up a stellar CEO (base cash compensation of ~$1.3 million a year, under that linked letter -- with far more, in equity grants). Frank Clyburn is leaving Merck to helm this old-line chemical firm that wants to become a player in bioscience and pharma (having acquired some DuPont businesses in that same realm).

I'll also note that this is another high profile departure. . . of a person of color from Merck in the last 12 months, as well. Here's the latest, from Yahoo! reporting:

. . .IFF today announced the appointment of Frank Clyburn, an accomplished leader and operational executive, to succeed Andreas Fibig as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the IFF Board of Directors, effective February 14, 2022.

Mr. Clyburn joins IFF from Merck & Co. (Merck), where he currently serves as Executive Vice President and President of Human Health and today has full P&L responsibility for nearly 90% of Merck’s $48 billion business. . . .

Mr. Clyburn received his Master of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin & Marshall College. Notably, he served on the Board of Directors of DuPont from June 1, 2019 to January 20, 2022, giving him familiarity with the merger between IFF and N&B to advance the integration. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). He also served as chairman to the Thomas Edison State University Board of Trustees. . . .

Onward, smiling into the chilly night air here. . . . be excellent to one another.

on a different note: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/amanda-gorman-biden-inauguration-doubts_n_61ea902ce4b0c5eb3aa957cd. I have no words other than 'I'm sorry.' A beautiful soul like this young woman should not have to deal with a threat on her life.
