Space Is... Hard. The Moon Is... A "Hard" Target. Our Condolences -- To India.

Sadly, India -- like Israel before it -- has "lost contact" with its Vikram lunar lander.

The nation had hoped to achieve a soft touchdown, at the Moon's south pole.

But it has apparently suffered a hard landing, just as the Israeli-backed effort had, earlier this year. We express our sincere condolences, and in the same breath, applaud the vision it took -- to mount the effort, in the first place. We learn, and we rise... again.
