Supremes Bounce State Of Texas' Attempt To "Re-Litigate" Dismissals Of Tangerine's Purported "Public Charge" Rule...

This is completely unsurprising (and gratifying, just the same), but I've been watching it for almost four years now, because my home county is the one litigating against Texas. [If you're at all interested, this links to my most recent comprehensive backgrounder on it all.]

From Amy Howe, at SCOTUSBlog.com, a very cogent summary:

. . .Cook County, Illinois, and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, two of the original challengers who sued the Trump administration over the rule, echoed the administration’s opposition.

They stressed that the rule had already been vacated “following an adversarial process in which the former administration vigorously defended the rule,” so there was no need for the states to step in now. Although the states may disagree with the Biden administration’s changes, they concluded, “that does not give them license to prolong this litigation regarding the” now-vacated rule. . . .

Now you know -- Gov. Abbott, in Texas, is clearly still aimlessly flailing, striking out, onto battlefields full of the fallen and now long buried mass graves chock-full of his, and Tangerine's, former troops -- from long lost wars here -- in an attempt to stop Mr. Biden's new immigration policies, more broadly. Oh well. Onward, to a perfect 80 degree Spring morning, in the Loop -- be excellent to one another. I'm out.
