Merck Has Begun Hiring -- For The Tax-Advantaged New IT Hub In Austin, Texas...


In a bit of more hopeful, sunnier news -- to counter the preposterously hard rains, and wide-spread flooding, in Houston and much of south Texas, now -- it seems that Kenilworth has just recently posted job availability/ recruiting listings for its new IT hub, in all the right places. These jobs will, on average, pay around $85,000 per year -- under the tax incentives agreements earlier signed with Austin.

The Senior Scientific Software Engineer is responsible for leading a project team coding and testing multi-user software applications. Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or a scientific, or engineering discipline.

Required:

Experience leading development teams.
Expertise in developing, debugging and tuning applications in one of Java, Python or JavaScript.
Expertise in building complex, highly available and scalable enterprise applications including web applications.
Experience with database design and proficiency in MS SQLServer/Oracle, NoSQL databases.
Experience with Web Services and RESTful APIs.
Understanding of distributed systems and maximizing performance.
Troubleshooting issues in enterprise applications.
Proficiency in LINUX and Windows operating systems.
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of professionals globally including outsourced development teams.

Preferred:

Experience in configuration, tuning, deployment of Application/Web servers such as Tomcat.
Experience in leveraging Cloud technologies especially Amazon Web Services.
Knowledge of UI design particularly for scientific computation and visualization UI development experience with HTML, AJAX, Javascript/Jquery/AngularJS and similar technologies.
Experience with programming in Python, C#, .NET technologies.
Experience with project management technologies such as Confluence and Jira.
Experience with using automated build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker.
Knowledge of development on High Performance Computing systems (e.g. Sun Grid Engine).
Knowledge of the drug discovery process. . . .
