There Were Over Six Hours Of In-Court (Magistrate-Led) Settlement Discussions On March 29, 2016 -- Between Gilead And Merck, But No Deal Reached

We may yet see a settlement, rather than a remittitur, or other court-ordered disposition, in this battle of Hep C patent titans. [Here I note that the parties indicate they will continue to talk -- at the minute order's end.] My hunch is that Gilead is offering only a fraction of the verdict amount -- and Merck isn't ready to call it a day, just yet. We shall see.

Here is a recently released electronic entry, from the Northern District of California, in San Jose:

. . . .Minute Entry for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Paul Singh Grewal: Settlement Conference held on 3/29/2016. Further settlement discussions to be scheduled at the direction of parties. Total Time in Court: 6 hours and 30 minutes. . . .

Fascinating -- we will keep you well-informed. Onward, with a lunch-time grin. . .
