R&D Workers' "Relay Protest" Now Underway: Against Merck In Oss, The Netherlands

A Dutch media outlet has it thus, today:

. . . .Protesters against the loss of 2,175 jobs at pharmaceuticals company Organon in Oss began a relay demonstration on Wednesday afternoon.

Each week day at noon five protesters will walk from the company premises to the town hall in Oss. So far 250 employees have volunteered. The protest is expected to continue for months.

Organon was taken over in 2009 by pharmaceuticals giant Merck which announced a major reorganisation in July. Merck plans to move the R&D unit to the US and shut down production lines with the loss of 2,175 jobs.

The works council of Organon is taking its case against the reorganisation to the company court on September 2, 2010. . . .
