In Mere Hours, Psyche Will Slingshot Around Mars... Images In a Week Or So, Via Slower Downloads...

As we mentioned on Monday, the speedy craft will come in on a vector such that it "sees" only a faintly illuminated crescent of Mars. . . but will see nearly the full disk, in sunlight -- as it whips by and gains speed, out toward Jupiter.

We will show that mini-movie (made of the still frames Psyche will shoot) when NASA | Goddard posts it.

In the mean time, know that even with all the heartache in the world, this is still an astounding time to be alive -- and to be able to join in the wonder. . . of space science discoveries. Onward, to image an all-metal (mining / some distant day?) asteroid called Psyche, come 2029.
