While we were gone, the feckless moron (/tangerine dotard) once again backed off his threat of tariffs against multinational pharmaceutical companies. Just as we said he would. Yawn.
He said he wanted to give Pharma the time to voluntarily reduce prices instead of imposing tariffs. Yes, you read that right, he now claims that price controls (of all things!) will be the way that he will "make America healthy again."
Here we would note that our regular readers are very likely to recall that his MAGA/Tea Party/GOP filed no fewer than 75 lawsuits against (all of which failed) what was then called Obamacare's drug pricing / reimbursement policies -- and, in campaign speeches (2022 to 2024) claimed that Mr. Biden's moves to have the VA and other government agencies negotiate lower prices with Pharma… were evidence of his "communism and socialism". These were "radical left wing, and dangerous" policies that Mr. Biden had adopted, he said -- over snd over.
Yet here in October 2025, he is claiming he is building something called TrumpRx -- an online, price controlled, government mandated -- and by force of (likely illicit and impotent) executive orders state run apothecary stocked with US Pharma prescription medicines. Consider this ("irony! its for me!") latest NYT reporting:
. . .With the government shut down for a sixth day, President Trump on Monday briefly dangled the possibility of a negotiation with Democrats, only to pull back several hours later — insisting that Democrats must end the standoff first before he would be willing to make a deal on health care.
“I am happy to work with the Democrats on their Failed Healthcare Policies, or anything else, but first they must allow our Government to re-open,” Mr. Trump said on social media. . . .
The stupid. It burns. If he were serious about helping ordinary, US consumers manage their prescription price bills, he would expand and continue Mr. Biden's negotiation policies. But he repealed those in April of this year, saying that they were socialism.
Hilarious. And tragic. All in one.
