These Are Of The Less Serious Clade II -- But We need To Remain Vigilant: Wayne County, Michigan

This is a new case, but the mpox virus has been seen sporadically in the US -- over the last three years.

Not to be deeply alarmed about, but it is still very wise to get both doses of the vaccine, if you are in the higher risk populations (primarily males who have sexual contact with other males), or with people who've been to DRC very recently. Here's a Detriot area-TV report, on it:

. . .Wayne County Public Health is reporting the county's first case of mpox since a global outbreak was declared in 2022. It is in the 19th case in Michigan reported in 2024. . . .

[Health officials are] urging anyone who may be at risk to make sure they are up to date on the two-dose mpox vaccine. The Mpox vaccine is recommended for those at risk or potential risk for mpox. Two doses, 4 weeks apart are needed for full protection.

For those who have received only one dose, a second dose is recommended as soon as possible. Mpox vaccinations are available at no cost and testing at low to no cost at Wayne County Public Health Division, by calling 734-727-7101. . . .

Now you know... and for tonight, with two nieces on the convention floor -- I'll rerun the raps/tunes -- that started it all, for BHO44, in 2004, then 2008. . . smile. A throwback, or two:
