Worrisome News: Latest Eight Ugandan Ebola Cases Are NOT From Any Prior Known Contacts Chain...

Nothing thus far would indicate that these independent cases are linked to any others, outside the country -- or even out of Mubende District, but obviously, that is the central concern: region-hopping, of an outbreak for which there is no vaccine, and no approved therapy. And additional infections, not yet even on the radar screen of the public health authorities in Uganda.

So, WHO and CDC while both hopeful that the outbreak will be contained -- remain concerned for very good reason, tonight -- per Reuters:

. . .The eight most recent Ebola cases reported during the outbreak in Uganda have no known links with current patients, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday, raising concerns over the spread of the deadly disease.

In a briefing, the WHO said initial investigations into the cases by Uganda's Ministry of Health had shown they were not contacts of people already known to have Ebola.

"We remain concerned that there may be more chains of transmission and more contacts than we know about in the affected communities," WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters. . . .

Now you know. Go, be excellent to one another. . . smiling.
