"Out Of An Abundance Of Caution" US CDC Will Screen All Passengers Arriving By Air From Uganda -- For Ebola Symptoms...

This development is due in large measure to the fact that there is no vaccine for the Sudan strain of the Ebola virus.

That, and that the current outbreak is on a main road, to and from the Ugandan capital, and is known to be present in the migrant mining communities that frequent the busses on that road. It is highly unlikely that there will be any US outbreak -- but this truly minimizes any appreciable risk, to the extent reasonably feasible:

. . .The US government will immediately begin redirecting air travelers from Uganda to JFK International Airport, Washington-Dulles International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Chicago-O’Hare International Airport, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for Ebola screening. The process will include a temperature check, risk assessment, visual symptom check, and contact information verification. US state and local health departments will follow up with travelers 21 days after leaving Uganda. . . .

US health officials believe the current level of risk is low for Ebola spreading in the US, but also plan to alert clinicians and hospitals to be on the lookout for possible cases. A call with thousands of US health-care providers is also planned for Oct. 11. . . . .

This same sort of screening was in place for flights out of DRC and later, Sierra Leone, in 2013 and 2014, when the last large outbreaks were seen. That too was prior to the existence of the Zaire-version vaccine. . . which has been used in each subsequent outbreak to greatly reduce the length and severity of the flare-ups. Now you know. Onward. . . smiling.
