Right On The Button -- Secondary Mirror Deploying Today...

... A step that is far less fraught than the five-fold mylar tensioning process begins shortly -- but it is vitally needed, nonetheless -- for interstellar space science operations to advance, in a few months' time.

Embedded there is a link -- to the actual live event. Enjoy -- I'm off grid -- no cell coverage, today:

. . .As expected, the ['scope's] original deployments timeline has changed over time. Sunshield tensioning was completed today (January 4), on the 10th day after launch. The secondary mirror deployment is now planned for morning of January 5.

Live coverage of the deployment, from the [redacted] Mission Operations Center at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, will stream on nasa.gov/live starting at approximately 9:45 a.m. EST (subject to change based on ['scope team's] operations). . . .

Now you know. Off, grinning. . . .
