Old Miner's Talk: Sometimes, When Taking A Core Sample Here, Too... You Hit Sandstone... And It Gets Pulverized; No Discernible "Core".


It stands to reason that -- on Mars, too -- occasionally, the percussive rotation / jaw motion of the drill bit will cause softer rock, like sandstone, for example, to turn to a fine powder, and run out of the tube, before being sealed.

It seems something quite like that. . . happened on Mars last week.

But not to worry (as many an old miner might intone) -- lots more tubes to fill, and sites to drill.

So, live, and learn -- onward, ever onward -- for this small Barsoomian part time miner, grinning.
