Here Is The Ninth Circuit Schedule -- For The Appeal Of The AR-15 Ban Case, In California.

This trial court level nonsense (handed down last week) -- suggesting that state governments may not, under their constitutional police powers, reasonably regulate the civilian possession of assault rifles, useful only for the hunting and killing of multiple humans. . . is preposterous (the .22 Cal AR-15 may not be used to hunt deer / game in the State of California, at all).

Requiring that it be disassembled and in a locked case, when transported off of any firing range or home property. . . or onto public lands. . . is an eminently reasonable. . . regulation tied directly to public safety. There is no requirement that the regulation be the least restrictive means (as would be true in speech cases). Many cases -- nationwide -- so hold.

And eventually, the full Ninth Circuit will so hold. But that's about a year out, now. Here are the upcoming highlight dates, on the appelate schedule:

. . .Thu., June 17, 2021 [State of California's] Appellants' Mediation Questionnaire due. If your registration for Appellate CM/ECF is confirmed after this date, the Mediation Questionnaire is due within one day of receiving the email from PACER confirming your registration.

Mon., July 12, 2021 Transcript shall be ordered.

Tue., August 10, 2021 Transcript shall be filed by court reporter.

Mon., September 20, 2021 Appellants' opening brief and excerpts of record shall be served and filed pursuant to FRAP 31 and 9th Cir. R. 31-2.1.

Wed., October 20, 2021 Appellees' answering brief and excerpts of record shall be served and filed pursuant to FRAP 31 and 9th Cir. R. 31-2.1.

The optional appellants' reply brief shall be filed and served within 21 days of service of the appellees' brief, pursuant to FRAP 31 and 9th Cir. R. 31-2.1. . . .
