It would seem to be no coincidence that in the century or so since our sharply accelerating consumption of fossil fuels began, we have now experienced the hottest decade, on average, in recorded human history, globally.
While COVID and the related reduction in travel generally has made a small dent this year, the longer term trend will remain -- toward decades of higher average global temperatures -- unless we get far more serious about it, and very rapidly. That said, it is promising that Mr. Biden is taking this threat seriously, and appointing a cabinet level post to assess and begin to remediate our contribution to the warming.
