Very Early This Morning, Romanian Time -- That "Second" Monolith (Attributed To McCracken)... Vanished. Just Days After First Sighting. Sorta' Like... Moab Version?

It may well turn out that the Romanian monolith was in fact a genuine McCracken. It vanished -- just as the Moab one did -- during the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday, Romanian time.

My betting now expects to see at least twenty of these, in total, before the fictional 2001 launch date of United States Spacecraft Discovery One, the ship used in 2001 -- here 20 years on, in 2021. Whatever happens, it will make a nice story of some sort -- that may feed yet another sequel to the Kubrick/Clarke efforts of now over a half-century ago.

. . . .The nine-foot-tall structure "disappeared overnight as quietly as it was erected last week," journalist Robert Iosub, from the Ziar Piatra Neamt newspaper, told Reuters after seeing the structure. "Now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil."

No one knew where it came from, or who put it near the town of Piatra Neamt four days ago — but the structure appeared on the same day a twin monolith vanished from the Utah desert. . . .

Of course it is now being credibly reported that the Moab monolith was stolen by four young male vandals, who broke it apart before carting it off, last Saturday night. [Might that also be an. . . elaborate cover story, as well? Who knows?]
