We already knew that green-house gas emissions were and are falling, and smog around LA continues to dissipate. . . but I am particularly moved to learn that we are all. . . shaking, just a bit less. Here's the bit, from the Weather Channel:
. . . .In addition to the continuous movement of tectonic plates on the planet Earth, the day-to-day hustle-and-bustle of human activities including road and rail transports, construction, land drills, exert substantial pressure on Earth’s crust. To contain the spread of deadly novel coronavirus, lockdown measures are in place across most parts of the world over the past few weeks -- resulting in a drastic drop in such activities. . . .
However, amidst all the chaos, planet Earth seems to have got some time to rejuvenate itself. A drastic decrease in air pollution levels has been observed in several regions around the world, and rare wild animals are being spotted roaming freely around human settlements. Now, the latest to this trend -- geoscientists have noticed a significant drop in the Earth’s ambient seismic noise and vibration.
Seismic noise inside the Earth is nothing else but the hum of vibrations in the planet’s crust—produced by its movement.
According to the seismologists from the Royal Observatory of Belgium, the worldwide lockdown is making the Earth’s crust vibrate less. . . .
As the river runs through it all, here. . . underneath these timeless raindrops. . . are the words -- mine to you -- in truth, there is one earthly CAF II | DMWH vibration. . . we will deeply miss, in our bone and marrow, to our dying day -- but then, immediately after, we will. . . rejoin him.
Onward -- smiling.
