FDA Warns [Again!], On Unapproved COVID-19 Drug "Experimenting"...

Just as we said two weeks ago. Once again, overnight, Trump proves he is a dangerous river of pseudo-medical disinformation. Inject "disinfectants" -- like Lysol®? Sheesh.

But this one is on his insane touting of an old, dangerous malaria drug -- that we now know is associated with increasing mortality in a VA hospital in Virginia. FDA warning, here.

. . . .Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a Drug Safety Communication regarding known side effects of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, including serious and potentially life-threatening heart rhythm problems, that have been reported with their use for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19, for which they are not approved by the FDA. . . .

So it goes. . . of course, if individual doctors can get malpractice insurers to cover them, they are free to "experiment" with non-approved medicines. I personally would more likely opt for the Gilead offering. . . but that's the subject of other posts. . . onward, smiling -- ever smiling. . . .

There is a paper out of the FDA that average QT prolongation with hydroxychloroquine is 50 mSec with a 90% UL CI of 62.5 mSec.

Any prolongation of 10 mSec or greater in the 90% CI is considered an increased risk of sudden cardiac death due to ventricular fibrillation. Typically drugs that cause increases of 25 mSec are removed from the market as the risk of death is considered too high.

Thank you.

Indeed. . . It is amazing that Brad Pitt’s Under three minute cold open — on a comedy show (see latest post) exhibits more intelligence, compassion and. . . leadership — than anything from 1600 Penn, in over three long years.

Namaste.
