A G4 and S4 class solar storm was witnessed, late afternoon -- at NOAA in Boulder, Colorado. I'll be on a 2 pm plane to Aspen tomorrow. Sweet. While this has the potential to disrupt radio bands, cell calls, and avionics, over the northern US overnight. . . it also offers another chance to see world-class aurorae, over these same Rockies (last seen in November of 2025) -- by sunset tomorrow night.
Here's the latest -- from the spaceweather.gov X-itter feed, generated by readings at NOAA/NCAR -- at the base of the Flatirons:
. . .SWPC Video Update from Shawn Dahl, SWPC Service Coordinator about the severe G4 and S4 ongoing storms. Apologies for the hastiness of this, but we have been very busy notifying aviation, power grid, FEMA, and more about these storms. Stay aware at http://spaceweather.gov. . . .
Onward. Grinning ear to ear. Back in a week; then on to Music City next Tuesday evening. Sweet -- to see Abrego's hearing -- and likely release from all criminal charges.
