In San Diego, The Able USDC Judge Sabraw Will Hear Argument On Enforcing The Asylees' Rights To Meet With, And Access Their Counsel...

To get a sense of how depraved Stephen Miller / ICE / DHS / Noem / Rubio and Border Patrol have become under Tangerine 2.0. . . we only need look at the preposterous lengths they are all going to, to prevent migrants from being made aware of their US legal rights -- and then, prevent them from meeting with lawyers ready willing and able to help them win likely release -- into the interior.

And yes, we've covered this since mid-2017. It is Tangerine's sick fever dream, exclusively now. Here's the 18 page PDF of the able plaintiffs' lawyers motion -- and the full-text order setting argument on it:

. . .ORDER Resetting Oral Argument re [771] Supplemental MOTION Enforce Settlement: Responses due by 5/15/2025 Motion Hearing set for 5/16/2025 12:30 PM before District Judge Dana M. Sabraw.

Signed by District Judge Dana M. Sabraw on 5/13/2025. . . .

[From the plaintiffs' moving papers, now:]

. . .The first [right is to receive] general legal services. That means services unrelated to the particular facts and needs of an individual client, for instance, a help desk or group presentations about how the immigration courts work and other general facts, not assistance with an individual case.

The second and far more important service is individual legal consultation and advice: what rights and benefits an individual may have under the settlement based on their particular circumstances; how to pursue those rights and benefits given their circumstances; the deadlines relevant to their case; assistance in submitting any necessary documents in their case; strategic decisions about their case; and how to prepare for any upcoming interviews or hearings. . . .

Onward, resolutely -- but time for a sunny mountain bike ride, by the lake, now.
