Well, it is not a market value number, and it is only current as of January of 2015 -- but the Union County, New Jersey tax records peg Merck's now former property at a bit over $195 million -- for taxation valuation, down from about $225 million, in the prior 2014 year. I'll keep looking for a market value number, as to what Celgene just paid -- and will let the readership know, when it turns up -- but here is the January 2015 real estate tax data, as a table:
|
| OWNER INFORMATION | |
| Owner Name: | THE SUMMIT PROPERTY CO.%MERCK & CO |
| Owner Address: | 1 MERCK DR M/S WS2F-96 WHITE HOUSE STATION NJ 08889 |
| PROPERTY INFORMATION | |
| Property Location | 556 MORRIS AVE |
| County | 20 - Union |
| District | 18 - Summit City |
| Block Number | 701 |
| Lot Number | 1 |
| Qualifier | |
| Property Class | 4B - Industrial |
| Land Description | 88.85 ACS |
| Building Description | MULTI-BLDGS |
| Acreage | 88.85 |
| Land Value | $25,488,900 |
| Building Value | $166,515,904 |
| Net Value | $192,004,800 |
| Prior Year's Taxes | $9,266,394.88 |
| Prior Year's Net Value | $225,569,504 |
Again, assessed values likely do not equate to market values, in New Jersey. So. . . we will keep looking -- and smiling.
