Published Dutch Reports Name Takeda As Potential Partial Buyer Of Merck's Oragnon BioScience/Oss Assets

Once again, kindly anonymous overnight word comes to the comment box, of Dutch media reports, out of Brabant, related to this unconfirmed possibility.

While I am sure the reports are accurate, as published -- I am just as unsure that my translation (and/or Google's) captures any/all of the nuances [anyone out there speak fluent Dutch, and care to translate the nuances? -- leave the same in the comment box -- I'll post it, as a new post]:

. . . .Dutch to English translation [Google Translate]

The Japanese company Takeda is interested in a part of MSD, former Organon in Oss. Anonymous sources around the company told this to the media. Conversations take place confidentially. . . .

. . .Takeda, which specializes in health and medicine for women, would be [assuming] between two and three hundred scientists and laboratory [workers] of MSD to take over.

Merck [neither] denies nor confirms the news. [Whether] there is talk "with third parties, we can not say at this time," a spokesman said earlier Friday.

MSD announced Friday morning [that,] until next year [there would be no decision-deadline] on the future of the facility in Oss. "We need more time", said a spokeswoman for MSD Friday. Whether there is talk "with third parties, we can not say at this time."

Reorganization

[In an announcement] Merck made this summer, the parent company of MSD Oss, [it was learned] that the research department in Oss is moving to the United States, and the other sections in the Brabant town [would be subject to a complete] reorganization. This would [end a total of 2,175 jobs, out of 4,500, including] about one thousand highly trained researchers.

The plans met with resistance from unions, the Dutch government and the supervisory board, which the parent company first had to seek alternatives before the reorganization could find passage. . . .

My translation may be terrible, so feel free to translate the below, for yourself, at the Google link:

[Editor's Note: the images, at above right, accompanying the original Dutch-language story (in green), will link to earlier stories on these possibilitites.] Do stay tuned, and thanks again, to our anonymous friend(s)!

The first paragraph need to be translated as:

The Japanese company Takeda is interested in a part of MSD, former Organon in Oss. Anonymous sources around the company told this to the media. Conversations take place confidentially.

. . .You captured the nuances correctly in your translation. . . .

I worked . . . at Organon. [A]fter the take-over of Organon by Schering Plough. . . the ICT had to be outsourced, [which] should have [caused] a [cost reduction], but [it instead] lowered the service levels. . . . [A description of long -- and senior level --experiences, going back to] AKZO Nobel [is redacted, here to protect identities], so I'm reasonably informed how to read the messages in the media. Schering Plough wanted the pipeline of Organon and after the take-over already stopped a number of R&D projects in Oss.

Merck now finishes the job by closing the R&D. After the message of July 8th, Merck came with the idea of a Scientific Campus, but the personnel needed to start this are now the target of Takeda, if the negotiations end succesfully. So if Takeda takes over the 200 to 300 R&D personnel, there will be still 1800 people fired and there will be no Scientific campus (in my opinion). This result is in my opinion not acceptable for the personnel in Oss and was not the aim of Works Council, Unions and Supervisory Board of Organon Biosciences. Description of my [prior company] experience is not for publication, even some who read it could easily track it to me.

I will keep you informed about publications in Dutch media.

Thank you so much!

As you can see, I've redacted it, and made it a new post (above), this morning.

There is a more secure method to get in touch -- would you like details?

If -- in the future -- you want to send me anything that you do not want the public to see, even for a minute (like an e-mail addresses, cell number, etc.). . . .

Simply leave them in this back-up site comment box.

All potential comments there are sent to me, privately and securely, BEFORE they can become visible to the public internet.

It is just a safer option for all of you, if you leave something at night (and, especially over the holidays!) -- I may not see it until late on the next day.

So, use this link.

Namaste, and thanks!
