The business briefs section of a Rochester, New York paper is running this item, about a recent Schering-Plough/New Merck "castaway" (a la Gilligan's Island) being "rescued" -- as part of Fast Freddie's Blues Band -- now auditioning, over at Bausch + Lomb (forgive me the mixed memes!):
. . . .The new global president of [Bausch + Lomb's] pharmaceuticals business, Daniel M. Wechsler, most recently was head of U.S. strategy and business development for pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. From 2005 to '09, he was vice president of global business operations for Schering-Plough. Merck bought Schering-Plough in 2009.
B+L Chief Executive Brent Saunders, Chairman Fred Hassan and Asia-Pacific region President Rodney W. Unsworth, all former Schering-Plough executives, joined B+L this year. Wechsler takes over duties Saunders had been doing.
Wechsler has roots in the area, as he earned a bachelor's degree at the State University College at Brockport and a master's from the University of Rochester. He will be based in New Jersey. . . .
I simply can't help it -- doesn't the above put you in mind of this movie?
". . .It's 106 miles to [Rochester]. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing [deal goggles]? Check. Hit It!" [Ref. "The Blues Brothers", below:]
Yep, they sure are "gettin' the band back together". . . God help the long suffering B + L employees.
