The United Steel Workers Union -- Local No. 10-86 -- has updated its website this afternoon, indicating that if the union's bargaining committee, and Merck's West Point plant management can come to terms by Tuesday, May 4, 2010, a tentatively-scheduled (for the moment) collective bargaining agreement ratification meeting might be held at 6 p.m., E.D.T. that evening -- thus:
. . . .Sunday, 02 May 2010 13:06
A Ratification Meeting Thursday, May 6th, at North Penn High School is tentatively scheduled for 6PM. Members will be allowed in the doors at 5:45PM. The meeting depends upon whether or not the Union and the Company come to terms on a collective bargaining agreement. Any changes will be posted on the website. . . .
On Saturday, it was clear that the two sides were pretty far apart. We'll keep you posted -- but that would make Tuesday a very big news day, for New Merck, as earnings will be out for Q1 2010, before the NYSE opens on Tuesday.
