So I was Wrong. It Closed In 2009.

There. Whew. No big deal.

Now we all ought to take a breath and relax, right?

You have been enjoyable to read, thoughtful in posts and dilligent in digging out the things we would have never known. Thank you.

Now, if I could figure out how you came to be such an Obama supporter and healthcare advocate when his policies will bankrupt our nation, I would feel better. How about a new website looking in to the corruption on Capitol Hill, the effects of non-stop printing of money, the attempts being made to ruin capitalism in the country (when Hassan-like greed is really the problem) or what the host of Marxists are doing in the White House? You could really do some good there.

Um, I did that already -- but it was aimed at the last administration.

Why?

Well because (1) Cheney/Bush "corruption" (a) hired mercenaries to no-bid contracts, leaving our servicemen and women dangerously exposed in Iraq and Afganistan, while corruption here at home (b) allowed Alberto Gonzales to fire US Attorneys who simply stood for the rule of law; (2) "non-stop printing of money" funded a senseless war [based on a lie]; (3) the rampant, idiotic nepotism could have ruined "true capitalism", and (4) the would-be "emperor" Dick Cheney (not a Marxist, though -- even more dangerous was he) nearly eviscerated all our freedoms.

So, if you are still curious, look for a site -- right here on blogspot -- with similar graphical sensibilities, and story lines along the above five main themes.

Namaste, and thanks for reading!

To be sure, I am not a Republican, I think they are all crooks! You make good points. Let's throw them all out and not stick our head in the sand now just because the ones in the White House are the opposite party. You are a great thinker. Think past Cheney (who should have been held accountable) and focus on Obama (who still can be).

I must say -- I am a realist.

Obama is delivering on the things I expected of him.

To say our 44th President is a Marxist is to mindlessly-repeat the garbage Limbaugh and Beck spew (to the not-so-secret delight of the RNC). I do appreciate that you may not be dyed-in-the-wool RNC, but you are plainly capable of seeing the falsity of your remark, in the first post, then.

Health care reform is -- to my senses -- the most important thing I can do for my children.

Even if it costs a trillion dollars (which, net net, it might), it will be a far better investment than the nearly-one-trillion dollars we'll have poured into the sand -- to say nothing of the blood of our our sons and daughters -- all for (nearly) nothing.

I do appreciate reasoned discourse.

And this site won't close, as it is certain there will be interesting things to talk about WHEN -- not if -- Sanofi-Aventis exercises its call on Intervet, and reforms a New Merial.

Until then, then!

Namaste

I too have enjoyed your digging and informed comments.

Thanks for the insight and dialog.

Travel well, then -- and travel light.

I'm just sayin. I enjoy your blog, really. But you're never shy about reminding your readers when you get it right (which is fairly often), but you seem REALLY defensive and dismissive about getting it wrong this time on the 2009 closing.

Fair enough. I guess it just isn't very important to me -- I mean seriously, when many others were so sure it would close "any day now"(!) for months on end. . . and I kept pointing to the missing regulatory approvals (without which Merck could not lawfully close), that was the central message.

Even so, Japan has not cleared the deal, as of tonight. It may ultimately turn out that Japanese assets will be divested, as part of the clearance process, there. So, the deal goes on.

Moreover, we wait to see how long before sanofi pulls the trigger on its 100 day put -- and then the waiting, for Intervet (and Merial) folks, at least -- begins all over again. Many of those employees will have been living on death row for almost three years now -- going back to when Schering-Plough acquired Organon and thus Intervet.

So, yes -- I thought the US FTC would act more deliberately. But, afterall, in the grand scheme of things, none of it really matters, does it?

The NYSE symbol "SGP" is gone -- and thus, my tombstone-like masthead revision, tonight.

Seriously, though -- I appreciate your feedback, and your views -- even if I don't fully understand the importance of this part of it, to you.

Namaste

On the subject of "mindless repetition of garbage spewed by Beck and Limbaugh", I take offense. This is a common thread thrown at me even by my own family as well as you. It is meant to put me on the defensive but I refuse to take my eye off the ball...If this is garbage, then why do many of the people Obama surrounds himself with praise Marx (Rev. Wright in September most recently)? Why does he himself discuss the "redistribution of income"? What exactly is garbage when in fact, everything these two say is backed up by audio or video tape? They ask the type of questions you ask, as it relates to the nation. I would think you would be intrigued by them both. The red phone has yet to ring.
LOVE THE NEW MASTHEAD!

Yes, we have been. Life goes on, but it's a been a strange life since March 2007. I think Sanofi will wait it out until Day 99. If for no other reason, that's just how they are.

Two responses, here: (1) to the anonymous person who wrote ". . .even by my own family. . . ." -- my reaction is that you should listen to your family. I find that mine often sets me straight.

As to the topic more generally, I'll accept that we'll disagree about whether Rev. Wright reflects anyone's views, other than his own. Last I checked, though, I elected Barack Hussein Obama -- not his once-in-a-Blue-Moon preacher. But I don't particularly want to make this a general political blog -- on the merits of Obama's presidency. So, I'll leave it at that.

(2) To the anonymous person who wrote ". . .it's a been a strange life since March 2007. . . ." -- I can offer only my sympathy to you, and all legacy Organon employees. I do believe, for what it is worth, that it will benefit sanofi to exercise the call pretty promptly, as the sooner the call is exercised, the sooner "New Merial" may set about becoming a dominant force in Animal Health. Empires to build, and all that.

I do understand that this is very cold comfort. Feel free to stop back, and vent -- or just shoot the breeze, from time to time.

Namaste, one and all!

PS: Oh yeah -- while on a conference call this afternoon, I reworked the masthead a little bit -- it seemed entirely too flat, in the first draft. Now it has more of a glossy pill-capsule feel to it, I think -- along with a graphic overlay that explains how the "plowing-under" came to pass -- in one line.

G'night!
