Breaking: The Reform Package Reaches 60 Solid Senate Votes!

The New York Times has it, thus:

. . . .Senator Olympia J. Snowe, the one Republican who had expressed a willingness to support the Democrats’ bill, announced on Tuesday that she would vote to advance the legislation. . . .

That makes it filibuster-proof. It will come out of the Finance Committee intact. Buckle up -- it is goin' to happen, now.

How can an individual with so much knowledge and accumen who has contributed so much to opening up the dingy halls of Schering on the idea that secret meetings and dishonesty do not hold up, support the dismantling of free enterprise when simple available fixes could help the 8 million that need help with medical issues? I am still trying to understand how this nation elected a flim-flam man and how liberals see nothing wrong with what is happening. Olympia is not your friend. Excuse me while I throw up.

Politics is -- as we learned from "Evita" -- the "art of the possible". . . .

Take what is possible, and hope that it approximates the end you were seeking -- forget principles, if you want to acheive most political ends.

I am no rube. True, she is no friend -- but she is able to see a bargain in the making.

I too, know what is possible -- and I am not afraid of deals -- to get there.

Yet and still, I am a capitalist.

Namaste -- do stop back!
