I think it fair to take a close look at Tom Daschle's recent contacts, amended tax returns, and -- of course -- paid gigs. I also think "the best antiseptic is sunshine" -- so, while I am thankful we know about Linda Daschle's almost 10 20 years-past lobying, I don't think it will much influence the incoming HHS Secretary. This snippet is per the Houston Chronicle -- do go read it all:

In 1999 and 2000, Linda Daschle was among a group of lobbyists at Baker Donelson Bearman & Caldwell who represented the drug maker Schering-Plough, which paid the law firm $470,000 over the two years, according to federal lobbying reports. . . .

From 18 years ago I wouldn't be so concerned. However 8 years ago is a lot closer. Even so it depends on the individual. For those few people who try to act with integrity in every situation even 8days ago would be not be a problem. However there are very few of those types of individuals around and of those that are I doubt many are successful lobbyists.
Even so in the interim SP has gotten a new management and with many of the new SP drugs coming from Organon I'm doubt Mrs. Daschle worked on issues related to them, with certain exceptions related to Claritin/Clarinex that may also be related to issues with and/or interactions with antipsychotics.
Looking at many sources of information I think the fights we will see over FDA and HHS in the next year will be so big that Mrs. Daschle's relationship to SP even if she would try to influence things may not amount to very much.
