We have noted the perhaps natural departures over time, when there is a change in tone, at the top of any life science / pharma organization.
But this likely at least in part reflects (at Merck) the more or less arid, and career-long bureaucratic approach Rob Davis brings to most matters -- as contrasted with the charisma and vision of his predecessor, one Kenneth Frazier. Here's the latest:
. . .Novartis said on Thursday it appointed Merck executive Fiona Marshall as president of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research to replace Jay Bradner, who is stepping down after seven years as research head at the Swiss drugmaker.
The drugmaker said the appointment of Marshall, currently senior vice president and global head of discovery sciences, preclinical development and translational medicine at Merck & Co, takes effect on November 1. . . .
Now you know. . . grinning into the sunshine.

So, you don't normally cover things like this but...interesting in that since late Jan, 5 executives have died by suicide...https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-09-01-22/h_3b48974f387168c9c3e73a7c9949889a
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here...keep moving...
I didn't see this. Damnation. And thanks, Anon.
ReplyDeleteIt just be. . . "raining [non-conforming] Russian oligarchs, outta' hospital windows!" /snark.
My memory is that two of the last six were supposedly "jumpers" from high story building windows, and one other one, was also at a hospital. [How does THAT happen!?]
To be clear, I am not being flippant -- this is. . . horrifying.
But if these guys were already served some polonium tea, somewhere -- and knew they were dying a slow agonizing certain death, anyway. . . I can actually see them technically "suiciding" out a building window, though a truly scientific autopsy would note lethal doses of polonium, or perhaps some exotic neurotoxin (man made). . . as at least a. . . "co-morbidity" factor.
