I may register, just to ask a question, along these lines: "What might be the downside to NASA of renaming a premier space telescope, pre-launch, since (afterall) the man for whom it is putatively-named. . . wasn't even a telescope scientist?"
If more than a few NASA science advisors / scientists are resigning from the agency, because this inertia is unacceptable (and they are). . . isn't it time to re-evaluate the stubborn refusals? And across the pond, ESA pressure is mounting as well. . . but here's the link to register for that 11 AM EDT Tuesday briefing:
. . .NASA will hold a virtual media briefing 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, Nov. 2, to discuss the engineering of the James Webb Space Telescope, the world’s largest and most powerful space science telescope. Participants will discuss how the observatory’s science goals drove its design and preview the complex series of deployments Webb will complete as it unfolds in space. . . .
Now you know. Onward, with a purpose. . . but smiling, just the same, in anticipation of Saturday's trick or treaters.
